Mateus Mane says it was important to get a win at Molineux on Saturday, but once the final whistle went, was already focusing on the next challenge in the capital.
Three days after that 4-1 win over Stoke City, Wolves take on West Ham United at the London Stadium, but that win over the weekend, along with two previous wins last week, mean they’re travelling down with confidence.
Mane’s magic led to the Old Gold’s second goal on Saturday, which was converted by Rodrigo Gomes to put the hosts in front for the first time, and having enjoyed celebrating that win at home, now wants a similar feeling in London on Tuesday evening.
On attention turning to West Ham
“We won on Saturday, but on Sunday we started working for Tuesday’s game against West Ham. It’s another game but away from home, the fans will go down and support us and hopefully we’ll get another win.”
On getting a win at Molineux
“The win was very important. I feel like we’ve started off very well this season. In the first game we drew, but wanted to win at home, so on Saturday we showed the fans what we can do when we play at Molineux, and I hope they enjoyed it.
“The manager wants us to attack and it’s been nine goals, but he wants more than that. We’re working in training and in games we try our best to score goals, and I feel that’s what we’re doing.”

On his personal targets
“This season my mindset has been come into it strong. I know it’s going to be difficult physically, players are bigger and stronger, but I’ve got to get used to it and I’m working on it. My aim is to get goals, assists and try to help the team out any way I can. We’ve got to adapt to the league and keep fighting.
“I’m just trying to work every day, come in, keep my feet on the ground and we’ll see what happens this season. My aim is to get back to the ‘Prem’, but I’ve got to keep my feet on the ground and keep working.”
On working with Jimenez
“He’s very important and it’s a pleasure to play with him. He’s a club legend and he gives me lots of advice about when to put the ball in the box or where he wants the ball, and I feel that’s coming now. I’ll give him assists soon and he’ll score soon.”
