After six years at Molineux, Ki-Jana Hoever has completed a permanent transfer to Sparta Prague.
The defender joined Wolves in September 2020 as a youngster, but after remaining at Molineux for the first two years, has spent the majority of his time since out on loan, leaving him with 33 Old Gold appearances in total.
Signed by Nuno Espirito Santo, the full-back spent two years as Nelson Semedo’s understudy before a loan move to PSV Eindhoven in 2022 proved the first of five temporary spells away.
Two stints with Stoke City followed and time in France with Auxerre, before the Dutchman returned to Molineux for a period last season. He played eight times before spending the second part of the season at Sheffield United and now moves on permanently.
Technical director Matt Jackson said: “When a player has a year left on his contract, you have to try and find a solution which works for all parties, and this does. Ki’s always been a great professional, so we’re delighted for him and he leaves with our best wishes.
“He’s had plenty of opportunities here but has never been able to convince any manager. We’ve managed his loans well, with good exposure, and his communication and application have been excellent, but sometimes players need to know they’re somewhere permanently.
“When you’re not in a rhythm of playing regularly, it’s tough, you return from a loan, and you’re not fully part of it, so he’s suffered. He has talent, so moving to Prague with his young family, he can settle and will be better in a stable situation.”
