Bueno | 'It’s going to be a good season'

Hugo Bueno believes Wolves’ pre-season work under Cesar Peixoto has given the whole squad confidence and set the team up as well as possible to attack their Championship campaign.

The left-back got 90 minutes into his legs at Molineux on Saturday afternoon as the Old Gold claimed a 3-0 victory over La Liga outfit Racing Santander, in which he scored a neat second goal after bursting onto a loose ball, skipping past several defenders and finishing smartly into the bottom corner.

With a change in system not stopping his ability to get on the scoresheet, Bueno hopes the result against Santander is a sign of things to come this season as Wolves aim for a swift return to the Premier League.

On finishing pre-season with a comfortable win

“It felt good. I was a good work out for all the team, so it’s always nice to finish like this.

“This game showed what we’ve been working on in pre-season. We always try to put on the pitch what the manager wants, try to follow the tactics, follow the plan and that’s the objective for all of us to get the win.”

On a neat finish to make it two

“It was a good goal. It’s always good to score goals at home, to feel good on the pitch, and I’ve been working on this, so it’s a good feeling.

“It’s something that I want to improve, of course, trying to get more goals and get in those situations a bit more with more confidence.”

On playing on the left of a back four

“Changing from a five to a four is different from last season, of course, but I don’t really have a problem playing a back five or four. I did it before also.

“You just have to change a few things, but at the end of the day, it’s still football, so it’s not a problem for me.”

On taking confidence into the new season

“Everything we’ve done in pre-season is to prepare us for the first game. Like I said, it’s always nice to finish like this as it gives confidence to all the players in the squad to go on to the next game.

“It’s going to be a good season, and I think that the whole club has the same objective, so hopefully we can get it done.”
