Rafiki Said is looking to be a “troublemaker when dribbling” this season, as he aims to impress in his new surroundings of Molineux.
Earlier this month the winger became the club’s third summer signing, and first under Cesar Peixoto, and now he has a full week of training under his belt, having spent the past seven days on pre-season with the group in Portugal.
On Saturday he played his first minutes in an old gold shirt and is thrilled to be part of a project where he feels he can make a genuine impact on the pitch.
On being a new Wolves player
“I'm very happy to have signed a contract with such a great club like Wolves. I'm really happy to be here. The facilities are incredible, there's plenty to get stuck into and I'm excited at the prospect of starting the season.
“I said yes straight away because it's a really great club and everyone in England knows it. When I found out they were interested in me, I was really pleased and I didn't hesitate to sign here.”
On what he’ll bring to Wolves
“I'm very much an attacking player who fights hard for the shirt, gives my all on the pitch and always give 100 per cent. I'm a dribbler, I'm someone who puts their heart and soul in, and that's why this club is right for me.
“I'm the type of player who puts smiles on the fans' faces because I'm always happy. I'm someone who likes to be a troublemaker when dribbling, in the box, scoring goals, making passes and celebrating. That's often why people like me.”
On bring leadership in
“I've been captain of the national team since July and it's a great pleasure to be captain of my country. When I know where I come from, I can't help but be happy. But I think it's going to help me grow as a person, to mature more quickly, and that's what I can bring to the club: experience on the pitch, and the ability to lead. Now, we'll need to score, make passes and be as decisive as possible.”
On his excitement for the future
“It's a great project, because the aim is to secure immediate promotion to the top division. A new coach, new staff, everything is new, so we're hoping to get down to work to quickly achieve our goals next year.
“I've got time to get to know my teammates and the staff more quickly, that's the advantage. The sooner we get to know each other, the better.
“I am very, very pleased to be here. I can't wait to be on the pitch, showing the fans what I can bring to the club as soon as possible.”
