Adam Armstrong believes Wolves were left ruing missed opportunities in the first-half before a slow restart after the break settled their season ending draw with Burnley.
The Old Gold came out of the blocks flying at Turf Moor, with the striker’s early penalty putting his side ahead during a strong opening 45 minutes, but Wolves weren’t able to add to their tally before the Clarets struck an equaliser just moments after half-time.
With the point not enough to take Wolves off the bottom of the Premier League standings, Armstrong is hoping that the team can regroup and rebuild in the Championship next season to bounce back at the first time of asking.
On ending with a point at Burnley
“In the first-half, we had a few chances that we probably should have took to maybe be two or three up.
“We started the second-half too slow, and then the game in the second-half started to become a basketball game – it was backward and forwards, but considering where both teams are in the league, it was always going to be like that.
“But if we started better second-half, we might have come out with a win. We have to take the positives and the point and go forward.”
On stepping up to the spot
“I practice penalties, and I knew exactly where I was going.”
On Mane and Abbey’s prospects
“It’s amazing. I've seen it and I was also lucky enough to do it myself when I was younger. It's the best feeling in the world.
“But they are two top, top talents that can only get better and better, and I’m buzzing for them both because they’ve been brilliant, really good.”
On rebuilding for next season
“We have to take some time off now, and we have to be raring to go when we get back, because this club belongs in the Premier League. I'll be doing everything to try and get us back there.
“With Andre signing, and hopefully we'll see a few changes, so we’ll take pre-season head-on and we’ll go again.”
