Mario Lemina says he’s excited to see Wolves test themselves against Champions League opposition to conclude their tour of the United States.
The Old Gold face Bundesliga side RB Leipzig at Inter Miami’s Chase Stadium on Saturday evening, on the the final stop of the trip, which has included tests against West Ham United and Crystal Palace so far. The new captain believes the tour has been ideal for building chemistry and continuing the positive mentality of the group, and now he wants the trip to end on a high.
On facing Leipzig
“They’re a tough opponent, but it’s a good game to play. It’s going to be interesting to play against a team who most of the time are in the Champions League. We’ll see what we’re going to try to do, what we’ve been working on, and I’m excited.
“It’s going to be a similar level to Arsenal, really good team, really good shape, really good understanding of the game. We’ll see what we’re going to do, we have to show our quality and it’s going to be a good game.”
On the atmosphere in the group
“Last year, in the summer, there was a lot of things going on, so it was really difficult. Now, with the gaffer and the group, the chemistry is doing really well. We all want to work with him, and we know where we want to go, and that’s the most important thing. Everyone’s committed to the plan, and we’ve been really positive and want to do something better than last year.
“Personally, I feel really good, I feel really positive. I feel in shape, and I think most of the players do too. The main thing is to be positive in the work you’re doing so far. We’re all on the same page, we want to work really hard, we want to be something as a team and get chemistry. We’re confident in what we’re doing so far, and I hope it’s going to work for the first game of the season.”

On taking over the captaincy
“It’s a big step for me because I’m well respected in the group. It won’t change my personality, who I am, There’s a lot of leaders in this team and we’re going to try to do everything together and that’s the main thing.
“To have a good chemistry with the fans is really important. Last year we built something really important with the fans and we need to keep going that way.”
On the new faces
“I’ve been impressed so far, because they’re really young, but are at a very good level to play. They’re at the level to play Premier League, and we’re going to try to be around them, to make them understand the Premier League and be the best of themselves.”
On staying in Miami
“We’ve enjoyed our time in Miami, it’s a good area, really good weather, really good people around, so everything was fantastic. The training facility is amazing. It’s really good. Good pitches, good training ground, easy to get to.”
