Ait-Nouri | 'It’s a very good day for me'

Rayan Ait-Nouri says the way Wolves overcame their injury problems to get past Fulham speaks volumes for the character within Gary O’Neil’s squad.

The Old Gold were down to the bare bones in an attacking sense following fresh injuries to Pedro Neto and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, but Ait-Nouri himself stepped up to open the scoring with an emphatic first goal of the season. That set the Old Gold on their way to three more Molineux points, which moved O’Neil’s side up to eighth, and Ait-Nouri says the home dressing room was a happy place come full-time.

On a strong second half

“We are a team with good character and our fans made a good atmosphere. We did a good first half and in the second half scored two goals, it’s very good for the team and the mentality.

“We knew it was a good team, Fulham, we did a first half good and the manager told us to continue like this. We played good in the second half also and are very happy.”

On getting off the mark

“I’m very happy I scored my first goal of the season and we won. It’s a very good day for me. It was a good ball from Toti on my right foot and I was very happy score.”

On overcoming the injury problems

“For sure it’s hard for us, we lost two players, but we have good character and the other players came on the pitch and did a good job.

“We have a lot of character and I like this from this team. We were very sad to lose Pedro and Bellegarde, but it’s football. After, we scored in the second half and were happy.”

On enjoying life under O’Neil

“He’s done a great job. He’s very good with us. He helped me and the team a lot. I’m very happy to work with him and hopefully it will continue like this.

“I’m very happy. The team gave me a lot of confidence, the coach also, and I want to give back a lot of confidence.”

On turning attention to Coventry

“It will be a good game in the FA Cup. Hopefully, we will win and after we go to the semi-final. We want to do it for the fans. We have ten more games and hopefully we’ll win a lot of games.”
