Dawson | 'Three points is the most important thing'

Craig Dawson was pleased to secure three points and a clean sheet against Sheffield United on Sunday afternoon.

Pablo Sarabia was the match-winner in a tight encounter with the Blades and Dawson believes the team had to stay patient on another winning weekend at Molineux. The defender says there are still improvements to be made but after rising to eighth, Dawson insists three points were the most important thing.

On a win and clean sheet

“I’m very happy to be honest. A clean sheet at home in the Premier League is always good, but it was a tough game, a difficult game.

“It was frustrating at times but to come away with the three points is the most important thing.”

On remaining patient

“You know they’re going to come here and frustrate you and they’re very good at that, defending deep.

“We just had to stay patient. It was a great goal from Pablo, a great header which is surprising for us all to see. He’s in great form at the minute.”

On improvements and the home form

“There’s lots of things we can improve on, for sure. It was disappointing at times, but it’s a clean sheet and one we’re happy with. We move onto the next one.

“Our home form since I’ve been at the club has been excellent. To lose a couple of games on the bounce is disappointing and you can see that with the fans with a little bit of frustration.

“It was a tough game today against a team which is fighting. To come away with a clean sheet is a good achievement from the lads and one we need to take and move onto the next one.”

On the development of the team

“We’re learning every week and developing as a squad. If you look where we were last year to where we are now is a great achievement.

“Like you can see today, there’s still a lot of work to do and everybody’s enjoying working hard, so we’ll enjoy it.”
