Wolves and Gary O’Neil have been awarded the Utilita Performance of the Week award for their impressive display at Chelsea, which led to a 4-2 victory.
The League Managers Association’s panel, comprising of LMA chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Chris Hughton, Rachel Yankey, Les Ferdinand, Clare Tomlinson, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, met to discuss last week’s performances across the top four divisions.
Between them, they decided the Old Gold’s performance at Stamford Bridge deserved a second recognition, after the November win over Tottenham Hotspur earned the same award.
Matheus Cunha stole the headlines on his pitch, scoring his first Wolves hat-trick, while Rayan Ait-Nouri forced the second goal, benefitting from a huge deflection from Axel Disasi.
O’Neil received the award at Compton Park on Friday, as his team prepared for the visit of Brentford at Molineux.
Wolves have previously won the award for their stunning win at Manchester City in October 2019 and comeback success at Villa Park two years later.
