Craig Dawson says it was “about time” he got off the mark for the season, after he put the seal on a comprehensive victory over Everton on Saturday.
The defender converted Matheus Cunha’s cross to add a third, after the Old Gold produced one of their performances of the calendar year in the final game of it. The win was Wolves’ third of the week, and Dawson’s goal was the team’s ninth during the same period, seeing 2023 end in fine fashion for Gary O’Neil’s side.
On winning for Mario
“It was a great performance today. I think you could see the effort from the lads, and it was a game we wanted to win for Mario.
“It just shows the togetherness of the group, and you could see that. The fight was there for Mario, so we wish him all the best.”
On getting in on the goals
“It’s been a long time coming. Me and Max getting on the score sheet was great and it’s about time. You’re never to sure when you score a goal now if it’s going to stand or not, so I had a little look around.”
On a fine performance
“It shows the work we’re putting in on the training ground. Credit to the manager and how he’s got us playing. I think everyone’s enjoying the football at the moment and it’s great to be a part of.”
On keeping in a clean sheet
“Everton are tough side and we battled hard, and it was great to get that clean sheet and three wins in a week.”
