Kilman | 'We want to build a fortress at home'

Maximilian Kilman was delighted to have helped Wolves to a clean sheet in their win over Burnley on Tuesday night and insists the players want to make Molineux a fortress as they return home this weekend.

Wolves’ defence came out on top in the first of two home fixtures this week and despite picking up another win at Molineux, which extends the team’s unbeaten run at the stadium to five matches, the skipper is already looking at making it six when Nottingham Forest are the visitors to the Black Country on Saturday.

On another three points at Molineux

“We’re delighted to have come away with a win and a clean sheet. It’s a massive win because we want to build a fortress at home and it’s another game we’ve won at home, and we want to build well on that.

“When we were tested we defended really well, of course Dan Bentley made some top, crucial saves in the first half so credit to him. He’s come in and he was great.

“We know we need to go again. We’ve got another massive game on Saturday against Forest and we need to do the same again, at home, so we need to put in another top performance.”

On a first clean sheet since August

“As defenders, we always want clean sheets. We’ve not been the best at keeping clean sheets this season, but it’s been a difficult season as we’ve been having more chances and more shots, and although we’ve defended well, we’ve just been unfortunate in conceding goals and not keeping clean sheets when we could have.

“But this is something we need to build from because the clean sheet was very important. It was really important to get the win and to keep a clean sheet was a bonus.”

On extending the unbeaten run at Molineux

“Every game at home this season I think we have felt we were favourites. There have been some away games which we knew were going to be very tough.

“You always want to play to win, but any home game we know we have to come at the opposition. We’re at home, we’ve got the fans behind us, and we need to push, and I think we did that.”

On Hwang scoring again

“He's been phenomenal. Even when he’s not scoring, he’s still chipping in and helping the team, and he’s really excelled this season. Credit to him and credit to the boys who are trying to find him the pass, Cunha, Pedro [Neto], Pablo [Sarabia], they’ve been really trying to help him with that, but Channy’s been phenomenal this season.

“Gary’s given him a bit more confidence. I think Channy was in and out of the team for quite a lot last season, but this season he’s been playing a lot and he’s really taken his chances when he got back into the team. He’s playing with much more confidence, he’s playing on the front foot, and he’s been creating chances for himself and his finishing has been really good this season.

“Since he came into England a couple of years ago, he’s taken time to settle because learning English was new to him, but he’s picked it up really well, he’s a really good lad, very polite, a very good guy, and that’s credit to him so he deserves it all.”

On preparing for another battle against Forest

“They’re a tough side, they’ve got some aggressive players and strong players, and we need to make sure we are ready to match that on Saturday. Last season we had some good battles against Forest, so we expect it will be nothing different this year.

“We’re quite an aggressive team ourselves, we like to play on the front foot, and we’ve shown that many times this season, especially at home, and we know it’s going to be another game where we’re going to have to show our quality and make sure we do the job.”
