Hee Chan Hwang has put faith in his teammates and head coach’s tactics when preparing to face his compatriot Son Heung-min and Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
The in-form attacker has scored in each of his Molineux outings this season, breaking records along the way, and on Saturday will hope to fire Wolves back to form after last weekend’s disappointment. He’ll be coming up against his good friend Son, but is focused on the job in hand, which comes under the stewardship of O’Neil, who Hwang is enjoying playing under.
On facing Son and Spurs
“We didn’t talk about Son [as a team], but our Gaffer will say everything about him and Tottenham. We trust him and follow him. We have good defenders and as a team are very good, and I believe my teammates can stop him.
“We’ve played together for a long time, and we understand each other, we’re very close with the national team. He was a model in Korea, when I was young, I watched his game and he did very well, and is doing very well at the moment also. He’s scoring goals and is unbelievable. He’s an amazing player. I’m happy to play against him on the pitch, for me, it’s very meaningful.”
On the differences between Wolves and Leipzig
“Leipzig fight for Champions League and at Wolves we fight for everything. Both teams are very big teams and everyone wants to win every single game. A little bit similar, a few things a little bit different, but I feel both teams are very comfortable and I’m so happy to play at Wolves and at Leipzig too.”
On playing under O’Neil
“Honestly, it was a shock [when Lopetegui left], but we could change everything. It’s just hard work and we did it, and after Lopetegui left, the new gaffer came and we felt straight away, from the first day, that he’s very clever and he’s a very good coach. We follow him and after five or six weeks, the results have come a good way and I think we’re in a good way now.”
On scoring goals
“Every one of my goals has come from teamwork. This is my third season, I understand more than first season, between staff and players, everyone. I feel very comfortable here and I think that’s why I scored more than last season.
“I want to keep going like that and I trust my teammates, and I want to do more for the team, and I help a lot my team. Scoring more goals for the team and when I score, we can win more. I will keep doing like that.”

On the team’s goals
“It’s difficult to say about the table. We just keep going and we work very hard, and we understand each other. When you try to win every single game, the end of the season we can stay higher. I believe it, I believe in my teammates and coaching staff, and everyone.”
