Craig Dawson says Saturday’s eventful 2-2 draw with Newcastle United was the type of game you want to be involved in as a professional footballer.
The rain came down on Molineux, as Wolves and Newcastle played out an enthralling battle under the lights, which ended with both sides taking a point for their efforts. The Old Gold had felt aggrieved by decisions, but twice came back to equalise, and Dawson was pleased to see the unbeaten run stretch to five matches in the Premier League.
On another positive showing
“We caused them problems. Obviously disappointed with the two goals and we don’t seem to be getting any luck with the decisions. If you take the two goals out of it, we controlled the game, created lots of chances, and it’s a point against a very good side, a Champions League side. There was a lot of positives to take from the game.
“Under the lights, with the fans right behind us, it was a good game to be involved in. An entertaining game for the fans. It’s a point against a very good side, it keeps the little run going, and we move on to the next one.”
On the character to come back
“Against a Champions League side, it would be easy to fold and concede more goals. They’ve got a lot of quality in the team, but it showed the togetherness of the group and the fight and determination, and that’s what we want to have as a group. It’s instilled from the manager, and you could see the appreciation from the fans, the fans were right behind us, which is massively important at home.”

On two good goals
“Two brilliant goals. Set plays are going to be massively important for us. The second goal shows the quality we’ve got going forward with Toti’s little bit of magic and then Channy’s doing unbelievably well at the minute so hopefully that continues. It’s a great goal and, overall, I think we caused them a lot of problems and it was a good game.”
On Neto’s unfortunate injury
“He’s been doing unbelievably well and it’s sad for him to get that injury. One thing I know, he’ll be working hard to get back as soon as possible and hopefully he is.”
