Hwang | 'Our team spirit is very positive and our vibe is so good'

Hee Chan Hwang believes Wolves still have plenty of improvements to make despite taking four points from their last two Molineux matches, in which he scored in both outings.

The Korean is the first Wolves player to have a goal involvement in five consecutive Premier League matches, having added his fifth goal in all competitions to put the Old Gold ahead against Aston Villa when he latched onto Pedro Neto’s cross, but after the opposition hit back minutes later, they had to settle for a draw. But Hwang feels there is more to come from him and his teammates this season.

On settling for a point

“Unfortunately, we didn’t win at home, we had a few good chances in the second half where we were able to get a few good shots, but both teams played well.

“We wanted to win, and we did everything, we tried to fight and win, and the game was very tough, but we managed to get a very important point.

“We’re now looking forward, and we will try to win the next game, but now we have the international break. We need a good rest and there are a few things for us to improve, but today we played well and that’s well done for our team.”

On having a responsibility to score

“Of course, there is responsibility on me to be the goalscorer, and I’ve scored five at the moment, but the most important thing is my teammates.

“We won last week with a big win against Man City, but we are still hungry and we know we can do better than we did today, we can improve many things, and we are improving. So far, we have done very well, and we need to keep going like this. We can get more and more points.”

On his partnership with Neto

“I’m enjoying playing with him a lot. A lot. He’s just an amazing player and we understand each other very well, but it’s not just with Neto, but with Cunha and with every other team player, we understand each other very well.

“Our team spirit is very positive and our vibe is so good. We will keep going, keep fighting until the end, and have a good gaffer who manages our game. With all of these things, we are going in a good way.”

On recent results giving team confidence

“I don’t think the confidence is much different, because this season for me is a positive season. I think I understand each of my teammates better, we have a good relationship with each other. We try to win and I try to score, I try to help my team, and I just want to win.

“We can build on these last two results, and although we – of course – want to win every single game, we managed to get four points from these two games, and these points are so important.

“We’re just trying to get more points. We are still very hungry and we can do much better in the future and show better performances.”
