Dawson | 'It dropped nicely and I put power behind it'

Craig Dawson described Saturday’s win over Liverpool as “a great start”, after three fresh Wolves faces made their full Molineux debuts and fired the old gold to a big three points.

The new arrival from West Ham United joined Mario Lemina and Pablo Sarabia in the starting line-up, and all three played key roles as Wolves blew their visitors aside at Molineux, starting off an important February on the right note. Dawson himself made it the perfect debut with a thumping finish for the second goal – the 53rd goal of his career – and now the defender hopes Wolves can kick on from here with another positive week on the training ground.

On the new faces settling in

“You can see, sometimes it takes time, but it’s a great set of lads and the group is very tight, so hopefully we can keep the performances going like today.

“It’s early days, we’ll take every game as it comes. It’s a great start, so we’ll enjoy this one, and be back to work next week, for hopefully another good week.”

On the perfect debut

“Obviously, it’s a great start, but a great team performance from the lads. Credit goes to everyone because we’ve worked hard this week.

“It just dropped nicely, and I put a bit of power behind it, and luckily it went in.”

On balancing defence and attack

“Obviously we’ve got great attacking threat, and it’s important we keep clean sheets, and I think it might be another meal out with the gaffer.

“We’ve got a lot of quality players, the attackers are very powerful, very skilful so hopefully in the coming weeks we can use that and score plenty of goals.”
