Portugal trio exit World Cup

Wolves’ final World Cup contingent of Jose Sa, Ruben Neves and Matheus Nunes were eliminated from the competition in Qatar over the weekend.

Portugal were beaten 1-0 by Morocco in the quarter finals on Saturday afternoon, with Wolves skipper Neves featuring for 51 minutes before being replaced by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sa and Nunes remained on the bench, meaning the goalkeeper didn’t feature in Qatar, as Morocco, led by former Wolves man Romain Saiss, booked their place in the semi-finals.

The trio’s tournament was the biggest success from the old gold camp, with Raul Jimenez stalling at the group stage and Hee Chan Hwang departing in the round of 16.

While Jimenez and Hwang are back with the group, Sa, Neves and Nunes will re-join training upon their return to the UK from Marbella later in the week.
