Hwang bows out of the World Cup

Hee Chan Hwang and South Korea saw their World Cup hopes ended by a clinical Brazil performance on Monday night.

The Wolves attacker’s injury time winner over Portugal last week booked his country’s place in the knockout stages, but the last 16 is where their journey would end.

Brazil, the tournament favourites, struck four times in the opening half to take them out of sight of their opponents and book a place in the last eight.

Hwang was starting his first match of the tournament and impressed, forcing Liverpool stopper Alisson into two brilliant saves.

His exit from the World Cup leaves just the Portuguese contingent to represent Wolves out in Qatar and they face Switzerland in the last 16 on Tuesday evening.

Hwang will now be given time to return home and rest, before linking up with Julen Lopetegui’s group in Spain later in the week.
