Collins | On Leeds defeat, deserving more and settling in at Wolves

Nathan Collins believes Wolves deserved at least a point from their visit to Elland Road on Saturday having fallen to Leeds United despite taking an early lead in the Premier League opener.

A goal in the opening six minutes from Daniel Podence gave the old gold a lead, but in spite of conceding two goals to end their first match of the 2022/23 season in defeat, the summer signing felt his new side could have had a positive result to match their dominance during the contest.

On deserving more at Elland Road

“I believe so. I thought we played well enough, I thought we created enough on the day, and I thought we defended well to have taken something away from this game.

“I thought we created a lot, I thought we did well as a unit and defended well, but to be fair, they created a few chances and that’s the Premier League, it’s going to happen, but overall, I thought we were good.”

On a possible foul during the winning goal

“I think so. I think if that happened in the box by a defender, then maybe it’s a foul, but I’d need to see it back, rewatch it and have another look.”

On the attacking talent in front of him

“It’s a nice feeling to be honest. I trust them with the ball and then it makes my job easier. Today, we created chances, but we just need to find that end product.

“Even if it’s the striker, the midfielders or the defenders, someone needs to go for the ball better than we did.”

On settling into Wolves

“It’s been easy because it was a really positive pre-season. The lads have been really good and it’s a good club to come and settle into.

“What he [Lage] wants from me, I think I can do as a player and he’s been encouraging me, he’s been coaching me and it’s a really good relationship so far, so long may it continue.”
