Having begun their previous two campaign openers away from the West Midlands, the 2021/22 season is no different, as Wolves travel to the East Midlands on the weekend of 14th August.
Lage will not experience the Premier League atmosphere at Molineux until the following weekend when successive home games sees Wolves host Tottenham Hotspur, before Manchester United are the visitors to Wolverhampton a week later.
After the schedule of the 2020/21 campaign was disrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the new season is set to be back to normal going all the way through to the summer of 2022 and finishing on Sunday 22nd May, as Wolves take a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool – this time repeating their final day of the 2018/19 season.
Although there will not be another Premier League Black Country derby in the next 12 months due to West Bromwich Albion’s relegation, supporters will be keeping a close eye on some of the key fixtures this year.
These include the first West Midlands derby of the season against Aston Villa, which is set to take place during the weekend of 16th October at Villa Park, while Wolves have until December to face the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, with a trip to the Etihad coming on 11th December and the reverse fixture at Molineux on 16th April.
Lage’s side have another double header over Christmas, facing newly-promoted Watford at Molineux on Boxing Day, before travelling to the Emirates to go head-to-head with Arsenal just two days later in the final game of 2021. Wolves will then bring in 2022 with a New Year’s Day fixture against Man United at Old Trafford.
Other notable dates in the calendar include Wolves' first top-flight match against newly-promoted Brentford for almost 65 years, with the Bees coming to Molineux on 18th September, as well as a first trip to the new Brentford Community Stadium on 22nd January. The final home game of the season sees Wolves invite another of the Premier League newcomers to Molineux, with Norwich City the visitors to the Black Country.
