Vitinha | 'I felt it, I shot and it went well'

A stunning first goal in gold and black for Vitinha was one of the most pleasing aspects of Friday night’s Emirates FA Cup victory over non-league Chorley.

The midfielder, on a season-long loan from Porto, knew his side were going to face a tricky test if they were to overcome the National League North side, and that’s exactly what they were encountered with, but his outstanding strike from 35 yards secured passage into the next round and a home tie with Southampton.

On making it into the fifth round

“It feels very good. I’m very happy to score my first goal, my debut goal, and happier for the victory. It was a difficult game, but we came through.”

On a getting past a banana skin

“It’s a difficult side, it’s a difficult stadium. The grass isn’t great and their team is aggressive and very, very competitive, so we got the win and that’s the most important thing.”

On his first goal for Wolves

“I just felt it. I received the ball, I saw that I was alone to front, and I felt it. I shot and it went well.”

On being up for the cup

“We can go all the way, but we are focused on the next game. Southampton or Arsenal, whoever it may be, we are focused on that and right now we are focused on the next game.”
