Neto on first Premier League goal

Although delighted to have scored his first Premier League goal on New Year's Day, Pedro Neto was left disappointed that his strike counted for nothing as Wolves fell to defeat at Watford.

The Portuguese forward, who thought he had scored his inaugural top-flight goal against Liverpool at Anfield at the weekend, before it was disallowed by VAR, netted from 25 yards against the Hornets when his long-range effort took a deflection before looping over Ben Foster.

But despite breaking his Premier League duck, Neto is already focused on Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Manchester United at Molineux.

On scoring first Premier League goal

“It was good for me, but unfortunately, I was sad at the end of the game because we couldn’t win this game today.

“After the game of Liverpool, I was sad because the goal was disallowed, but I said that it will appear, today it appeared, and of course I want more.”

On falling to defeat at Vicarage Road

“It was a difficult game, I felt that we could have won this game, but our performance was not the best.

“It’s always difficult when you are two goals down, especially against a team that defend well. After the two-zero they liked to play football, but we have to be honest, it was not our best game.

“I thought that we were ok, we were on good form because we work every day to be on form. It’s football. It’s always like that. It’s like the game against Man City, we were losing two-zero, we won 3-2, and for example today, we lost because it was not our best performance.

“It was just not our game today, but we will try to bounce back and we are already focused on the next game.”

On looking ahead to Saturday’s FA Cup tie

“We are always focused on the next game. We’ve already played this one, now we are focused on the FA Cup. We go game by game.”
