With the score at 0-0, and Wolves piling on the pressure, a lengthy delay due to a serious-looking injury for Kenan Bajric threatened to take the sting out of the contest. But, as the board went up for 12 minutes added time, Wolves stuck to their task and eventually found a way through when Adama Traore crossed for Raul Jimenez, much to the relief of their captain.
On the relief of winning
“I felt like it was going to be one of them nights, but the boys dug in again and showed the character towards the end.
“It’s a fantastic header from Raul, but we don’t forget Adama in it all by doing what he does, but the character the lads showed, we kept going until the end, we were saying with the amount of time added on that we needed to keep going and luckily we got there in the end.”
On staying focused until the end
“It’s horrible and we all hope the lad’s alright. It didn’t look nice and we were all concerned for him, we really were. Football goes out of the window when you see an injury like that, so we hope he’s OK and send him our best wishes all of us.
“The boys had to dig in. We felt like it wasn’t going to come, but when Raul’s in the box like that, it’s a fantastic header.”
On backing Neves again
“We’ve got quite a lot of people who can take good penalties. I think it’s good when you’ve got a couple that you keep the goalkeeper guessing. I think if you have one and he does his homework on one, it makes it a little bit easier for him, so we’ve got quite a few.
“We’ve got full trust in Ruben, he’ll take another one, there’s no problem with it. He’s a fantastic footballer and we know he good he is at penalties.
“He keeps on going, he’s a fantastic footballer and we’ve got no qualms in him missing the penalty, there’s no problem, he’ll take another one and I’m sure he’ll score it.”
On Wolves’ table position
“We don’t focus on anybody. We don’t look at what other teams are doing. We focus on ourselves.
“We said before the game it was a massive game for us, we wanted to compete, it was a tough one because we played them a couple of weeks ago and we knew how tough it was going to be, but to get the win’s important.
“We just want to carry on building up them points and see where we can go.”
On the atmosphere
“It’s brilliant. We love coming back here. We know how important it is to our supporters to come and watch Wolverhampton Wanderers.
“We know that after the last three years, they don’t half give us a massive boost and push us on. So, it’s credit to them, how they are with us and I hope we can keep on playing well.”
