Jimenez on his vital winner

Raul Jimenez believes his late winner against Slovan Bratislava was just reward for his team mates’ efforts at Molineux.

Wolves had found their Slovakian opposition tough to break down, with Dominik Greif in particular in goal, and Jimenez was amongst those previously denied by the stopper. However, following a lengthy delay due to Kenan Bajric’s injury, Wolves finally found a way through as Adama Traore set up Jimenez to earn a third successive Europa League victory.

On the goal

“It was very important for us and our aspirations in the Europa League. It was a difficult win, we had control and managed the game, but the goal didn’t want to come, but it came at the end.”

On facing an inspired goalkeeper

“It’s all about my team mates, they made the goal very well, we did very well all of the match. Now, here we are with the three points and almost in the next round.”

On Kenan Bajric’s injury

“It’s good news for my team mates and his team mates (that he’s conscious). I’m very sorry for it, it was not my intention, but I hope he recovers well and can keep going.

“Seeing that he was not here, it’s difficult for all of us, but I hope he recovers well.”

On the penalty responsibilities

“It’s both. Now, I have scored three penalties before. It was his turn and we’re going to keep doing it like this, one him, one me.

“It doesn’t matter if he misses, he’s going to have another opportunity in another match, and he will score. We’ll keep the same routine in every match and are going to score the penalties.”
