Gibbs-White hungry for quick return

Wolves’ dramatic victory over Besiktas has left Morgan Gibbs-White determined to return to full fitness as soon as possible.

The midfielder started in Istanbul, as Willy Boly earned Wolves a memorable win, but has since withdrawn from international duty with England under-21s due to a back issue. It leaves the youngster in Wolverhampton, working on a return to fitness, with hype from a sensational week for the football club adding extra motivation.

On returning to fitness

“I hurt my back, so I’m currently at Wolves, doing rehab and a bit of treatment. I’m fixing myself so I’ll be ready to go when the boys get back from internationals, and we’ll be raring to go on the Saturday.

“The aim’s always to get yourself fit. You’ve got to work with what you’ve got, know your boundaries, know your limits. Everything’s going fine, it’s looking good.”

On the international break

“It’s good. We need a break and we’re going to carry on building, carry on progressing as a team, carry on training together and come back and try get a victory over Southampton.”

On his Besiktas experience

“It was immense. Yet again, it was a crazy night, throughout the whole game, not knowing how it’d go, and in the last minute Boly comes up with an amazing touch and finish which shows we have to keep going.

“We’ve still got a lot of away trips ahead and we still need the support of the fans – it shows they’re helping because we’re getting the points away from home for the fans. We have to thank them for their support, travelling out there to Turkey.”
