Wolves move a 'dream come true' for Dadashov

To sign for Wolves and become a Premier League player is a dream come true for incoming striker Renat Dadashov.

The 20-year-old Azerbaijan international, who will spend the 2019/20 season on loan at Pacos de Ferreira in Portugal's Primeira Liga, admits he was taken aback by Wolves’ interest in him but is determined to try and help his new club in any way that he can.

On signing for Wolves

“I’m very happy and I’m very excited. This club is a beautiful club and to be a wolf is unbelievable, so I’m very happy to be here now.

“I got a call from my agent saying Wolves wanted to sign me, and I was like ‘really? Is that true? You’re not kidding me?’ He said ‘yes, it’s true’, so it was an easy decision to make.

“But now, I will go out on loan where everything will be fine, and I can come back a stronger player next season.”

On becoming a Premier League player

“Every player would want to be in a team which plays in the Premier League. It’s the best league, for me, in the world, and how you see what the Wolves did a very great season, so it’s like a dream come true.

“I don’t think it will be easy, but I will find my way, because everywhere you go is a new change for you. England is a beautiful country, there are a lot of nice people here, so I don’t think I will have a lot of problems here.

“The first thing for me is always to try and help the team, to help the club, and I will help in any way I can – on the field, off the field, everywhere – be nice, be a nice person and aim to reach something big.”

On having sport in his blood

“We’re a very active and sporty family. My Dad played water polo, my Mum played handball, my sister played football until she was 16 and my brother plays football in the German third division.

“The last time I played for the Azerbaijan national team was the first time both me and my big brother were in the team together. That was unbelievable for me because to represent my country alongside my brother was one of the best feelings of my life.”
