The Portuguese forward had played at the highest level under Nuno Espírito Santo at Porto and was on the books of one of the biggest clubs in Spain, providing great experience during his life before Wolves.
DEVELOPMENT IN PORTUGAL
Paços Ferreira | 2013-2015
I was very young and at that time it was Paulo Fonseca the coach, who is at Shakhtar now. We had a good team and it was important for me and my development. I started playing first in the cup and I scored, so it gave me a chance to start in the league. Two games before the end I scored and it was an amazing feeling.
FIRST GOAL FEELING
Paços Ferreira | 17th May 2015
My first goal at Pacos was my first senior goal in the league. It was an incredible moment because we were fighting for the Europa League places. We were at home to Académica and I scored a great goal. It was my first with the left foot from about 25 or 30 yards, so it was a special moment for the club. The first goal is special anyway, even if you score from one yard, but the way it was made it even better.
BRIEF ATLETICO TASTER
Atlético Madrid | 2016-2018
I stayed there for one month and was mainly out on loan but in one friendly game I scored my first goal away in Italy so it was special. I was training under Diego Simeone’s order, it’s very physical as you know, so it was a tough pre-season under him, but I think it helped me to grow as a player.
LIFE UNDER NUNO
Porto | 2016/17
At Porto we didn’t win the title so when you don’t hit your objective it’s always a bad season, but on my first start I scored a hat-trick in the first half which was special. It was my first experience of playing at a great club, fighting for something. Playing at Estádio do Dragão in the Champions League helped me to grow as a player.
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DREAM
Porto | 2016/17
It was a dream come true, like playing in the Premier League – a similar feeling. I played eight games, so it was good for me and my development. I played at some nice stadiums, mainly Juventus in the last 16 and there was a great entrance with the lights going off.
