The defender was typically impressive in the back three, organising another tight-knit and compact team to victory over in-form Manchester United. Wolves are making history as they go this season and Coady was proud of the shift every single Wolves player put in at Molineux.
On a fine achievement
“I can’t believe it, I really can’t. I can’t tell you how proud I am of everyone in that changing room, what we’ve done and how we’ve gone about the game. You take away the emotion of the game and I thought we were absolutely outstanding.
“From start to finish we controlled a club like Manchester United who have come to Molineux, we knew it was going to be tough for them, with the crowd here we knew what the atmosphere was going to be like, but look at the way the boys played and the goals we scored, we could have had a couple more as well.”
On the club’s rapid progression
“What a couple of years. I think you’ve got to remember where we were two years ago, two-and-a-half years ago, we weren’t in this position and it was something we needed to improve on and we wanted to get this club to nights like this.
“Luckily, we’ve done it. We listen to the manager every day and the manager has been outstanding. I speak about him all the time, but what he’s done for this club moving forward has been absolutely sensational and we’re loving every part of it.”
On controlling the game
“We said we’ll stay controlled throughout the game, if we didn’t have the ball stay controlled stay together, stay compact like we showed last week at Chelsea, and make sure we stayed in the game, and we did that.
“You look at the chances, we had more chances, we had better chances, I thought their ‘keeper was brilliant, but we said before the game that we wanted to make history for this club, this club hasn’t been there for a long, long time, and the boys have done that.
“We’ve got players who’ve played in big games before, so they know how to do it, but it’s an incredible night for this football club, and we can’t wait for the next round.”
On an electric atmosphere
“It’s the best. The supporters tonight were absolutely amazing, we knew what they were going to bring, we really did, you could feel the atmosphere building all week, we could feel the excitement and what it was like in there, it was deafening.
“You couldn’t hear each other, people can hear me quite a lot of the time, but people couldn’t hear me screaming and shouting. It was an incredible atmosphere and it helped us along the way, but the boys deserve a lot of credit because of what they’ve done, it’s fantastic.”
On looking ahead
“We can’t wait. We want to get ready for the semi-final, we’ve got a few games before that we need to make sure we’re ready for, but we’ll look at the semi at Wembley, I’m sure we’ll take 30,000 people there and they’ll love the day. We’ll have to make sure we do it right and hopefully go again.”
