Jimenez enjoying the winning football

Raul Jimenez loved playing his part in Saturday’s winning performance against Cardiff City, particularly the two moves which produced the crucial goals.

The Mexican was at the heart of a fine passing move for the first goal, before Diogo Jota applied the finish, and netted the second himself, after pressing Cardiff’s Sol Bamba. The style of football on show had Wolves supporters on their feet and Jimenez was equally as excited to be playing his part on the pitch.

On the style of football

“The first one was amazing, when we are on the pitch doing passes, we know where the other player is. We enjoy playing football and we have to keep doing it all the match. They were very good goals.

“We enjoyed the first goal very much. It was pass move, pass move, so it was amazing. We can do this type of goals in more games.

“Me and Diogo have training sessions and play on the pitch together, him and me are having a good relationship. I assist him and he assists me in so many games, it’s a good part of the team.”

On the performance

“We knew that it was going to be a very tough match, but we achieved what we want, two important goals. We managed the game, we knew all game it would be throw ins and long balls, and I think our defence was very good.

“We lost at their home (in November) and knew they throw many long balls, but the two goals in the first half gave us an ability to manage the game in the second part, so we are very happy.”

On exciting times at Molineux

“I’m enjoying it. I love being here, we are making very good things. Quarter-finals of the FA Cup and in seventh position, it’s very good for us. We know we can do more, but we go game by game, looking forward.

“I expect to score more goals, but we have to go game by game, going with a good intensity. We need to help the team get wins, which is the most important thing.”
