Wolves need more first-half goals, says Jimenez

Although he was accepting of the point Wolves earned against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon, Raul Jimenez knows the side must improve their Premier League performances.

The Mexican striker’s second half penalty got Wolves back into the match after falling behind to Josh King’s spot-kick after 14 minutes.

Jimenez has reflected on the ‘crazy’ game which was littered with contentious penalty decisions, while admitting that if his side don’t win, then they must try their hardest not to lose.

On a dramatic draw with Bournemouth

“It was crazy on the field, but we knew that until the end we had to keep going, every game we play like this, we are going to have some points.

“It’s difficult because we had the opportunities to create some goals, and then we equalised in the game, and two minutes later they have another penalty. It’s difficult, but we never lost the confidence and we kept going.

“At the end, it’s a good point, but in all of our matches we want to win.”

On improving with Wolves

“I am enjoying playing. I think my teammates and I are playing good football. Sometimes we have things that we need to keep improving, things that we have to do better.

“But we are making good things and if we continue to do these things, we can go to the top.”

On second half performances

“We score more in the second half, but we have to score in the first half too. If you’re not going to win, we have to take the draw here away from home, but we’ll still do the same for the next match.

“It’s good to go home with one point; like I said, if you’re not going to win, don’t lose.

“The match against Bournemouth was hard, but these are all tough games in the Premier League, and now we know we have another difficult game on Tuesday night at Huddersfield.

“We have to do the same and we have a lot of confidence, but we are not totally happy. Even though we are towards the top of the league, we did not get the result we wanted, so we have to keep improving and keep going forward.”
