Bennett believes Wolves deserved a victory at Brighton

Ryan Bennett believes Wolves deserved to take all three points back to Molineux following Saturday’s narrow defeat at the AMEX.

Brighton claimed the victory thanks to Glenn Murray’s effort shortly after half-time, but Wolves had several chances – including Bennett himself who saw his goal-bound shot palmed away by stopper Mat Ryan in the closing stages.

Following the match, Bennett said: “I’m really disappointed. We created enough chances, we had enough possession of the game to make it pay, and obviously we haven’t done that. Of course, these things happen but we’ve got to bounce back strongly because we’ve got two tough games coming up now.

“We knew the way they’d play. You look at a lot of their games and it would probably be similar, but we stuck to what we believe in and we had chances. The keepers made some good saves, clearances off the line from headers and free kicks, all sorts, but that’s the way they play and credit to them for that, they stuck to what they believe in as well.

“It wasn’t our day today and hopefully we can bounce back and get a good result next time.”

Although the defender was disappointed with the final result, Bennett believes his Wolves teammates will work hard in an attempt to recover from the side's first consecutive defeats in the last two seasons.

He added: “I think it’s the first time we’ve lost back-to-back games in a long while, so we know we need to work hard again this coming week and put that right, as quick as we can.

“We stick to what we believe in and we do that throughout the season. You’ve seen today that they’ll be no one coming away thinking that we didn’t deserve the three points, but that’s the way it is and it’s the tough reality of this league.

“It doesn’t always happen for you, we know we’ve got to go out there and hopefully luck will be on our side on another day and get the points to total up to what we need come the end of the season.”
