Neves Delighted To Extend Wolves Stay

Ruben Neves felt a feeling of trust from Wolves when he signed a new five-year contract at Molineux on Monday.

The 21-year-old midfielder was Wolves’ Player of the Season as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side memorably secured the Championship title during 2017/18.

Following his return for pre-season ahead of the new Premier League campaign, Neves put pen to paper on a contract extension and was delighted to commit his long-term future to Wolves.

“I'm delighted to sign the new deal with the club,” he said. “It's important for me, I feel that the club trust me and I'll do everything to help the club again.

“All I do is think about my family so it's a little step more in my career and our lives.”

Neves’ six goals – all from distance – were key to Wolves’ success last season, as well as his brilliant displays in midfield, but now his focus is firmly on the future.

“It was a tough season, we did the things very well and we deserved a rest. But now we are back and we're preparing ourselves to look forward to the Premier League.

“Honestly we're focusing on ourselves and preparing well. After we will think about that. But I think we have a very good team and we'll do the things well.”

Nuno’s squad returned for pre-season last week and Neves admits a feeling of excitement for the regrouping ahead of a fresh campaign in the top flight.

“It's very good to be back with the boys. We had time to rest, I had a very good time on my holidays, so now let's prepare for the Premier League.

“I'm anxious to start the season. I'm preparing myself and looking forward to the best league in the world,” he added.
