I Am Very Happy

Nuno Espiritio Santo revealed how pleased he was with Wolves performance as they ran out 1-0 winners at Portman Road.

Matt Doherty's first half header was enough for Wolves to seal victory over Ipswich Town in Saturday's Sky Bet Championship clash.

Despite not being able to add to the lead in the second half, Wolves looked bright in possession and created a number of opportunities.

Speaking after the game, the Head Coach said: "I'm happy about the performance from the boys today. That's what makes me really pleased.

"The way they were organised, how they stuck together, the shape and good defensive organisation that allowed us to then go out and create a lot of chances.

"Their goalkeeper was one of the best players on the pitch and I think that says a lot.

"In the second half we came out really, really well and created good momentum with good possession of the ball.

"I also credit the defence, the shape, the way we stopped Ipswich from creating anything.

"It was a good performance and a good result. I think the boys worked hard, they concentrated and were focused, knowing their tasks. That's what gives you the performance and the result.

"I am very happy and, of course, I have to congratulate the boys for the hard work that they have done."

The players spent the week leading up to Saturday's match at a warm weather training camp in Spain and Nuno explained how beneficial he felt the week was for the team.

"I think it was important. It was something that we had planned before. Results don't change our plans," he said.

"It was important for the boys to have some time together, create more balance between them and enjoy themselves.

"The balance that the boys created together during the week, with each other 24 hours a day.

"There were a lot of training sessions and they worked very hard. The benefits are visible, you can see it."

1,890 Wolves fans made the trip to Portman Road and the Head Coach ensured that he showed his gratitude to the travelling fans.

He said: "The way they support us through the game and the way the support us in the end shows that they are together with the team and we are with them.

"We thank them and I cannot get tired of saying that but we have to keep going, we still have a long, long way to go."
