Nuno Disappointed With Defeat

Nuno Espirito Santo felt that his side didn’t play well as Wolves were beaten 2-0 by Nottingham Forest in the Sky Bet Championship.

Two first half goals from Kieran Dowell and Ben Osborn but the visitors into the lead and despite Wolves having the majority of the possession in the game, they were unable to break down a stubborn Forest defence.

The defeat is Wolves’ first in the Championship since October, Nuno said it was a bad performance but he admitted that he knew this day would come.

“Bad result, bad performance,” Nuno said.

“I think we didn’t do a good game and it’s a tough result losing but we lost after 13 games - we knew that this day would come and now it’s about bouncing back.

“In the first moment it is disappointing and I’m conscious that we didn’t do a good game.

“The goals we conceded were mistakes but this is football, it happens on both sides of the pitch.

“Sometimes you take advantage of the other mistakes but it goes beyond that - we had a plan to go into the game and we didn’t do that.

“It is my responsibility to speak with the players and tell them that these games are important.

“In the second half I think it is a totally different game, the first half is what is really important.

“When the result is 0-0, when you’re on top in the game you must hurt the opposition and we didn’t.

“We didn’t really hurt Forest and put them against the ropes.

“It’s a continuing process, everyday it’s important.

“We knew that this day would come - when you lose a game after 13 games in the Championship, the boys must be proud of themselves but the competition they are making, they are working so lets be proud but say that, today we made mistakes - all of us. Me, first!

“Now we are going to work all this week to prepare for Ipswich like we always do - go and fight for the three points.”
