A Good Performance

Nuno Espirito Santo was pleased with a 'good performance' as his side ran out 2-0 winners over Norwich City at Carrow Road on Tuesday evening.

Willy Boly headed Wolves into a first half lead after meeting an accurate corner from Barry Douglas. The visitors' victory was finally secured in the second half as Leo Bonatini hammered home his ninth goal of the season.

Speaking after the game, Nuno said that he was pleased with the performance and explained that it was a good way to bounce back following defeat at QPR on Saturday.

“Congratulations to the boys and thank you to the fans for their support. It was a good performance and a good result," said the Head Coach.

“It was important to bounce back from a bad result and a bad performance.

“The most important thing is how we bounce back, how we perform. When? Every game. Where? Every stadium.

“The identity that we want to achieve and build on it. Today we did it. We played good football, we were compact, we were solid and we managed a good team. Norwich is a good team, they play good football and have good players.

“We managed that and were able to play our football and create chances enough to maybe achieve a different result.

“If there’s a ‘but’ I would say the second goal could have come earlier because we had enough chances.

“At the same time, to build all these chances and create all of these chances – the boys did really well."

When asked if there was a specific message that the Head Coach delivered to the players after Saturday's defeat, Nuno replied: “The first step that I think the boys did was to assume that the last game was not the way.

“This is the first step that you take and we took that together. We stood up together today and it was good.

“We have to know that we’re not going to win every game. This is the truth about football.

“I want to believe in my idea, the way I play, the way I train, I think and I see.

“This was the message – let’s be ourselves and you cannot achieve anything without hard work.

“The boys worked hard and, at the same time, played the way they enjoy playing.

“Good combinations, many chances, solid, compact, not concede much to a good team like Norwich.

“The key message is to be ourselves in every game."
