The 24 year old spent most of last season played predominantly at right back but has played in the middle of a back three in every Sky Bet Championship game so far this season.
He feels he has a long way to go but says he’s learning more every day in training.
“It’s a position that’s nice, it’s a position where everything’s in front of you - the manager’s helped me a lot with it in terms of where he wants me to me and how he wants me to play, the positioning side of things as well,” he said.
“I think that’s the biggest part of it - the positioning side of things on tracking your run and things like that.
“I’ve got a long way to go, I want to keep on improving on the training ground and keep on learning from him and from the other boys.
“If we can all keep on doing that, hopefully we’re on to a good season.”
Wolves face 20th-placed Barnsley on Saturday at Molineux in front of what is set to be a crowd of over 27,000.
Coady admitted that he has been delighted with the start that Wolves have made but also says that no one’s getting carried away.
He said, “We’re eight games in - we’ve done fantastic up to now but we’ve not done anything, we’re eight games in, it’s as simple as that.
“The manager came in at the start of the season and said that he wants to win as many games as possible and I think you’ve seen that in the cups with the performances we’ve put on.
“I thought Bristol Rovers were brilliant on Tuesday - they really stopped us playing, they stopped us doing what we wanted to do.
“I think that was that resilience I mentioned last week about the boys digging in and actually getting the result.
“That’s the big difference now with what we’re doing, we seem a little bit more consistent - theres a long, long way to go, it’s something where we’re very early in the season but we want to keep on winning games and picking up points.
“You know in the Championship that every game is really tough, people beat everyone - Burton beat Fulham last weekend, it’s crazy what happens.
“Fulham were one of the best team’s on the league last year. You’ve got to be focussed every single game, no matter who you’re playing or what day it is - you’ve got to be focussed on what you want to do.
“At the minute, we seem to be doing that quite well but we want to take it one game at a time.
“I don’t think the boys or the staff are looking even to Sheffield United on Wednesday, we look to Barnsley and we look to build on what we’ve been doing.”
