Happy With A Good Performance

Nuno Espirito Santo was pleased with his side’s 3-2 win away at Hull City on Tuesday evening.

Ruben Neves gave Nuno’s men the lead in the first half with a stunning 30-yard strike before the hosts levelled through Michael Dawson.

Diogo Jota recaptured the advantage in the 43rd minute and the travelling Wolves were sent wild in the dying moments as Nouha Dicko finished calmly to secure the points.

Speaking after the game, the Head Coach said: “I’m happy with the result, I’m happy with the hard work of the boys, I’m happy with part of the performance but not all of the game.

“It was a tough opponent at a tough stadium, a big win for us and a very important three points.

“The team showed character in going for more. They showed ambition to go for the third goal.

“Then in the end we suffered with the penalty. But overall I’m happy with a good performance.

“Great support from the fans, from minute one until the end celebrating with us.

“I want to thank them for coming so far and really supporting and helping the guys.

“They boys are working hard and getting wins – this is what we are here for, to give them joy.”

When asked if Tuesday’s win showed a different aspect to his team, Nuno replied: “You have to defend well. They have two good strikers and a lot of mobility, the wingers are good players.

“You have to stick together and take out the space. If you press them well then you will control that aspect of the game.

“In that part of the field we did really well and, offensively, we created many chances – we deserved the goals that we got.

“It shows character, it shows ambition to not sit on a result and always look to get more goals that give you the advantage that you need.

“We need to look at set pieces. There is a lot of work to do – we must improve.”

The Head Coach also took a moment to mention Neves’ opening goal.

“It was a fantastic moment. This is what the fans come for, to enjoy those moments in the stadium. It is poetry,” he said.
