The new campaign gets underway as Wolves host league-newcomers Middlesbrough at Molineux on Saturday afternoon.
And after a pre-season of hard work, Wolves Head Coach believes that his squad is in the right place to compete from the first whistle.
“We are ready,” claimed Santo before adding: “We have had long days of hard work but the boys have trained very hard and very focused.
“Putting together all the things that we think are better for the team.
“Saturday for us is day one of the competition but it’s day 30 of work and this will go over and over again.
“We know where we are. We are growing but, at the same time, we are ready to compete against Middlesbrough on Saturday. We are 100% sure that we’ll go for it.
“We saw that on Saturday in the final game of our pre-season. The fans were pleased with the team, they enjoyed Wolves’ play.
“What we ask from them is their 100% support and we’ll give everything that we have to celebrate a victory together.
“We’ll get better through competition, each training session is a chance to improve, and this is the spirit.
“I’ve been really pleased with the way in which the boys have worked.
“I truly believe that we are going to improve each day.
“The things that we have been seeing, players improving every training session, doing good things, better things and trying harder.
“This gives us the feeling of continuous and sustained growing.”
Wolves have made a number of new signings in preparation for the new season as the club looks to build a squad capable of gaining promotion.
When asked how he felt about Wolves’ summer business, the Head Coach replied: “I’m really pleased. As a club I think we did a good job.
“The players that have come to Wolves can really help us and the players that are already here are helping a lot with the building of a new team.
“With the number of players that have come, it’s about putting together everybody and building a strong squad.
“There’s no other way to compete at this level in the Championship, you have to be a strong squad and share the same spirit.
“It’s a club. We have to cooperate and communicate. It’s not just about the coach and the players, it’s about Wolves.
“What we want for Wolves is a better future. Everybody must put their efforts in the same direction to build a strong squad.
“I’m thankful but, at the same time, it’s a big responsibility for all of us because we know that everybody’s involved in making Wolves better.”
