Everything Was There

Two goals from club captain Danny Batth and a sublime third by Helder Costa saw Lambert’s men comfortably over the line.

Lambert was delighted to bring the away form back to Molineux and he now hopes that his side can now continue that.

“The fans have been brilliant and hopefully we can kick on from here for the rest of the season and we can get this place really going,” he began.

“If we have an aspirations to get out of the league, you’ve got to win more home games than not.

“It’s all credit to the team, we’ve played against a team that if Neil had been there, then they'd be third and that’s incredible going since he’s been there.

“They’re one of the form teams in the league, that shows us we’re on the right road.

“Nobody knows if we’re safe yet but we’re certainly playing well.

“We may as well look upwards because there’s not much in it between us and 11th or 10th.

“We’re playing well, we’ve won four on the bounce and we’re unbeaten in five - 13 points out of 15. It’s really top-form and we’ve got to keep that momentum going.

“We had some unbelievable counter-attacks - speed, brilliant play, great interchange, great combination play - everything was there.

“The ball was going across the face of goal - there was everything that you want to see as a manager.

“The third goal was unbelievable from a very talented footballer.

“I think we’re hitting form at a really good time and hopefully we can keep this going right through to the end.”

The first two goals were scored by Danny Batth from two Ben Marshall set-pieces.

Lambert was delighted to see his side score from set-plays and hailed Helder Costa’s third as a ‘world-class goal’.

“We looked great going forward, we were strong, we’ve scored goals from set-plays - the first time I think I’ve seen us score from set-plays.

“They were two great headers and great deliveries from Ben (Marshall), and the third goal was just an absolutely world-class goal.

“The front four, and you can add Dicko and Bodvarsson into that and even Morgan (Gibbs-White), there’s a lot of flexibility and pace among them - they’re all technical players.

“Sometimes you have to substitute for what they lack in the defensive side.

“Going forward we look a threat all day long.

“They've scored 23 goals from set-plays and we aren’t a big side at all - we defended really well, really strongly.

“We lose a goal which comes from the throw-in but all credit to the team - I thought for the majority of the game we defended really strongly.

“We spoke about not conceded throw-ins all week.

“We didn't want to concede free kicks or corners either but you’re never going to stop that.

“If you’re clearance is going to be long, make sure that it’s well up that pitch because they’ll throw it in.

“You’ve got to concede something at some time - all credit to the team for defending really strongly.

“I think Dave Edwards is an incredible footballer as well. His drive and the way he breaks up the play - when the ball breaks in the box, one of the first players you see there is Edwards, he’s just incredible.

“The goal, once Costa’s got the ball in the box then he can make you look silly and that’s what he did.”
