Kenny Jackett has re-iterated his desire and determination to bring more success to Wolves as he called for everyone to “drive forward” this summer.
After two successful seasons with a record-breaking Sky Bet League One title and missing out on the Championship play-offs on goal difference, Wolves’ Head Coach has acknowledged that 14th place this time out is well below everyone’s expectations.
The final day win over Sheffield Wednesday was Jackett’s 150th game in charge of Wolves – he has managed for 678 in total – and will be using all that experience to try and bring about a more successful campaign in 2016/17.
“Wolves is a fantastic club,” said Jackett.
“It has the capabilities to go to the top level.
“It’s an exciting time for me to be here and I see next year as an opportunity and it’s one I want to take.
“It’s one I’m desperate to fulfil because I think it has fantastic potential.
“This is a privileged position, one that I enjoy and one I’m determined to be successful in.
“I’m delighted to have been here three seasons, it’s been terrific.
“But my determination for the future is very, very high.
“I do see it as a privileged position, one I want to continue in, and it’ll only be results that continue that.”
After falling in the table from seventh to 14th, in part due to some key and long-term injuries, Jackett knows a summer reshaping of his squad could be crucial in initiating a change in fortunes.
He added: “My focus is on working hard enough to pull things together and sign the type of players we need to either complement or improve the club, so that we can have, hopefully, a better season.
“It will be hard work through the summer, I do expect that.
“We have to work very hard in the summer to plan for next year, to get this squad as strong as possible.
“It’s not a time for sitting back, it’s not a time for me, or Kevin Thelwell, or Jez Moxey, to sit back.
“We’re all determined in this period to work as hard as we can to sign the players we need.
“It’s a time to drive forward.”
