Kenny Jackett was delighted with the second half comeback from his team as goals from George Saville and Jack Price overturned MK Dons’ first half opener to secure a first away win since New Year’s Day.
Kortney Hause conceded an own goal six minutes into the game at Stadium MK, but both he and the team responded well to seal a thoroughly deserved three points thanks to that second half fightback.
The win was however marred by what looked like a serious injury to Michal Zyro after Antony Kay’s challenge just before the interval.
“It was a very good response from the players in the second half,” said Jackett, pleased to see Dave Edwards make a brief late appearance after a lengthy spell out with a broken metatarsal.
“I didn’t feel in the first half we could turn MK Dons or get in behind them.
“We had good possession up until two thirds of the pitch but then lost our way and they broke off our bad play.
“It was a sloppy goal we gave away and I think it was an own goal from Kortney Hause but he and the team responded well and the second half was very good.
“And by the end of the game it was a good performance from Kortney.
“Le Fondre and Mason linked quite well in that second half and sometimes a smaller partnership does work if they can play off each other and they looked a threat.
“They were clever in their play and combined well.
“As a team we had a good intent, desire and attitude about us in that second half.
“We also had the legs in the team to get into the box when the ball went wide and got in there to outnumber them and get the goals.
“It’s also good we’ve got James Henry back because he has been a good player for us and we have missed him.
“He has come up with two very good assists.
“And Dave Edwards is available again who is a solid Championship player for us as well.
“They are leaders for us and I am pleased they are back in the group and there are some good signs with the age of the squad and good players to come back.
“We want to keep building.
“We have had a good following here tonight and I am delighted we have rewarded the supporters with a win and that second half performance going towards them.
“Our main aim for this season now is to encourage our supporters that there is a good future here at Wolves.
“As a team we are learning and we are not bad, but we have to keep progressing and improving.
“We have done o-k away from home – we have been tight and competitive in all the games we have played.
“It is a pleasing feeling to get the win especially to come back from 1-0 down.”
On the incident which saw Zyro stretchered off, Jackett said: “I felt it was a bad tackle and it looked like a red card to me.
“Hopefully it’s not too bad an injury but the first impressions from the physios are not good.
“It is some sort of knee ligament injury and we will have to have it fully assessed to see how the land lies.”
