Conor Coady says it is time for Wolves to stick together, and cut out the mistakes if they are to end the recent winless run and climb the Sky Bet Championship table.
Speaking after Saturday’s home defeat against Derby, and prior to the confirmation of the appointment of new Head Coach Paul Lambert, the midfielder says errors are costing Wolves dear as they made it seven games without a win by losing to the Rams.
“It was down to our own individual errors,” says Coady.
“We should have come away with a result after our second half performance.
“But we let ourselves down and those mistakes have cost us.
“We knew the first half wasn’t good enough and that the first 20 minutes we were nowhere near it.
“We came in at half time and Rob (Edwards) spoke and we all spoke and we knew what we needed to do.
“In the second half we did well and should have come away with something
“We have to snap out of conceding early goals very quickly.
“So many of the goals have been caused by ourselves – I can’t see where teams have regularly been carving us open with their own play.
“It has to happen quickly. Starting with the next game.”
“Derby are a good side but even the third goal it is a long ball form our corner and we shouldn’t be letting that happen.
“We need to eradicate it and quickly because the games come thick and fast in this division
“We have a break now, which is probably not what we need with the situation we are in, but we have to step it up when we get back out there.”
With Lambert starting work today, Coady knows it is important for all the squad – and supporters – to stick together and keep working ahead of the return to action at in-form Preston a week on Saturday.
“We have some good players here, we are at a massive club, and we know what we have to do as a team,” he added.
“We all need to come together now and stick together, including the fans.
“It is an important time for us now, and with the new gaffer coming in it is going to become even more important.”
