Do you have the S-X Factor?

Move over the X Factor – it’s time for the S-X Factor, as Wolves Foundation launch a search for musical maestros to take part in a fantastic new competition.

Wolves Foundation ambassador and top grime artist Producer S-X is leading and judging the competition to find the best lockdown lyrics from eight to 18-year-olds who attend the Premier League Kicks programme.

In the challenging times being faced by everyone at the moment with the Covid-19 pandemic,  music can be a major force to improve mental health, and one of the motivations behind S-X becoming an ambassador of the Foundation was to work on projects with a focus on mental health in young people.

And the audio which entrants must adapt their lyrics to for the ‘S-X Factor’ has been created by Darren, a participant at both the Foundation’s Head 4 Health project looking at men’s mental health and Friday night football.

Darren has battled with mental health issues in the past and uses music as a coping mechanism, so his involvement in the S-X Factor is a huge positive as Mental Health Awareness Week comes to an end.

“We are hugely proud of our Premier League Kicks programme, which offers young people the chance to enjoy healthy activities and aims to build safer and stronger communities,” said cohesion and inclusion manager Lee Smith.

“Unfortunately, we have been unable to carry out our normal Kicks activities due to Covid-19, but have continued to engage with the young people online including organising FIFA competitions which have proved extremely popular.

“This is another great way for them to show off their talents, and their competitive streak, and we are grateful to Producer S-X and Darren for helping the idea come to fruition.

“We know there are some very talented young people who attend the Kicks programme, and now it’s time to see what they have got when it comes to the world of music!”

Producer S-X, who actually worked in Wolves’ retail department while he was aiming for his musical breakthrough, is now a hugely successful record producer, singer and songwriter who has collaborated with some of the biggest stars from the industry.

That roll of honour includes Young Money, J Cole, Childish Gambino, Lily Allen, D Double E and KSI.

He said: “As a Foundation ambassador, I am delighted to be collaborating with the Foundation to support creativity in an area so close to my heart.

“As a fellow Wolves supporter who has been fortunate to be able to follow my ambitions, I want to use my platform to show the younger generation that through hard work and dedication you can achieve anything.

“This exciting opportunity really is one of a kind, and I am pleased to be a part of it.”

To enter the competition, download and choose one of the four pieces of audio below created by Darren, and add your own lyrics along the theme of Wolves, the Premier League, or football in general.

Save your music as an MP3 file and send it to leesmith@wolves.co.uk along with your name and age. If the file is too big please use wetransfer.com which is a free site for sending large files.
