Coady delighted with Kilman and Raul's landmark goals

Conor Coady was full of praise for teammates Raul Jimenez and Maximilian Kilman after their landmark strikes helped Wolves secure all three points against Everton on Monday night.

On another memorable night under the lights at Molineux, Kilman got his first goal for Wolves to set his side on their way, before Jimenez, described by the captain as ‘world class’, bagged his 50th in gold and black during an impressive first-half in the Black Country. Coady could not hide his delight with both players’ efforts, not just in front of goal, but their all-round games in helping the team to another victory, and extend their unbeaten league run to five matches.

On three points against Everton

“It was an outstanding night for the boys. I thought first-half, we were outstanding. From the first whistle we were aggressive, we played with it and we had the ball. We went in at half-time and we wanted to keep that going, we wanted to keep it up.

“We worked so hard to nullify a team like Everton to virtually nothing. We also went the other way and created stuff ourselves, so I thought we were outstanding.

“We knew they were going to change things at half-time, because they’re a top team with a world class manager.

“We knew what was going to come, we knew at times we would have to defend and we were gutted to concede the goal. It was quite an anxious last ten minutes, but we dug in and got the three points in the end.”

On the gameplan to overcome the Toffess

“It was to be aggressive, have the ball as much as we can, try to keep the ball for as long a period as we can.

“We know Everton like to counter-attack and they started with a lot of speed on the pitch, so we knew if we could keep the ball, we’d nullify their counter-attack a little bit.

“We knew they were going to change in the second-half, but we stuck to our tasks, we stuck to it, and it’s a fantastic win, and we’re all delighted.”

On Jimenez’s 50th goal for Wolves

“We know what Raul brings, he’s outstanding. We know what he does, he’s a world class striker and he’s a pleasure to have at this club.

“Scoring 50 goals is amazing. I thought he was going to take it round the keeper and then, all of a sudden, he dinked it over him.

“It’s a world class finish from a world class player. We’re very happy to have a player like him at this football club, but it’s not only his goals, but what he offers us with his all-round play is absolutely fantastic.”

On a first in old gold for Kilman

“Big Max has worked hard for it. We’ve given him stick for not scoring enough headers because he’s big enough to be scoring a lot more than what he does, but it was a fantastic header; into the ground and it was superb.

“We work on set-pieces all the time, so I’m absolutely over the moon for him. I couldn’t be any happier for him because he’s been fantastic since the minute he came into the first-team, and the way he’s been playing since the start of the season, he’s been incredible.

“He’s a brilliant lad, he works ever so hard and although his goal was fantastic, his all-round game has been superb.”

On successive wins at Molineux

“We talk about playing under the lights here because we love it. We speak about it all the time because when the nights come, it’s an incredible atmosphere and an incredible time for the lads to play, in front of this crowd, under the lights.

“I thought the fans were brilliant, but it was important we started well. We spoke about it during the week because Everton are a great team at the counter-attack and it was important we kept the ball and moved it as much as we could.

“We’re improving, we’re getting better and we just need to keep on doing it now.”

On moving up the Premier League standings

“We don’t look too much at the table. I don’t know where we are now; is it eighth? Seventh? It’s good. We keep on moving forward though, as it’s important we don’t get too hung up on where we want to be.

“We want to keep on winning games – that’s the thing. We want to keep on improving under our gaffer and if we do that, we’ll be ok.”
