Sa | On first win at Molineux, 'amazing' fans and controversial goal

Jose Sa praised the ‘amazing’ support at Molineux who the Wolves players were able to repay with a first Premier League win at home of the season.

Having joined the club in the summer, the goalkeeper was delighted to finally get off the mark in front of the home fans against Newcastle United last weekend, and Sa, who made a crucial save to keep Wolves in the game after Newcastle controversially equalised despite getting injured and lying on the group in the build-up, was pleased to have contributed to the victory.

On claiming three points at home

“It was a very good win and a very important win for us. We worked for this and we are happy.

“It’s not the start of our season, our start was since the first game, we have been playing good football and we work for results like this.”

On his first win at Molineux

“It’s amazing. An amazing environment and amazing fans. I just want to say thank you for their support and their support kept us in the game and going strong.”

On Newcastle’s controversial equaliser

“After, I talk with the ref and he said he looked at me and saw that I was ok, but no, I was with pain. I don’t know if the striker struck my arm or something, but I just only had pain and I stayed on the floor.

“But the ref didn’t do nothing, so I tried to help the team by trying to get up to try and keep the goal safe.

“Foul or not, I think the ref should have stopped the game. But I don’t know, it’s his opinion, and we are here to work and nothing more.”

On taking to life in the Premier League

“I’m very happy because this is the best competition in the world, so I’m happy to be here and happy to help the team.

“I’m happy to make saves like this after we score. But this is the most important; the team and the big win we had.”
