Neves | 'We need to improve, but look at the positives'

Ruben Neves believes there were positive aspects of Wolves’ performance at Leicester City and time on the training ground will only benefit them.

Wolves pushed the FA Cup champions all the way at the King Power Stadium on Saturday but were made to rue missed chances on matchday number one. However, Neves, took heart from the performance after only a matter of weeks to work on a new system and is confident time will only help the group adapt to Bruno Lage’s new approach.

On the Leicester performance

“We need to improve, we need to improve a lot, but I think in the time of work we had together, we did great things. We created a lot of chances and Leicester were at home, it’s not easy to do.

“We need to improve, but look as well to the positives we did here, against a great team. We had more chances than them, unfortunately we didn’t score, and they scored with the first chance they had. Now we’ll stay together and go again.”

On making those chances count

“It’s all about work. We’ve been working really hard since we came together, since the boys came from the Euros as well, we are working really hard to do the things well.

“A new system, a new way to play, so I think what we did on Saturday, with the time of work we had, it was good, but let’s have a look at the negative things and improve. We have one week, a complete week to work, and we go again at Molineux.”

On having Jimenez back

“For me, to be honest, he’s one of the best strikers in the world at the moment. He’s a great player, so we are really lucky to have him in our team. Fortunately, he’s fit again, and he will help us a lot, I’m sure this season.”

On Sa and Trincao’s debuts

“They are great players, they will help us a lot this season. Now it’s time to work together, for them to feel better playing in this system, it’s new for them as well. We’ll try to help them to improve and to get 100 per cent as soon as possible.”
