Dendoncker signs new Wolves contract

Leander Dendoncker has shown his commitment to Wolves by signing a new contract with the club.

The popular Belgian, now in his third season at Molineux, sealed a new deal until 2023, with an option to extend for the 2023/24 season.

Dendoncker is a key member of Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad – no player has won more aerial duels than the Belgian’s 36 this season – and he’s missed just one Premier League match in the heart of the Wolves midfield.

Dendoncker is known for his tireless performances – running a two-year record of 13.21km against Brighton & Hove Albion last season – and ability to score important goals, not least against Torino and Aston Villa during 2019/20.

As well as his energy, Dendoncker’s versatility is a valuable asset, with the 25-year-old possessing all the capabilities to play in a range of positions, including in central defence for the winter months last term.

Internationally, the midfielder is a constant in Roberto Martinez’s Belgium squad and comes from a football family, with his brother Lars Dendoncker on the books of fellow Premier League club Brighton.

This term, Dendoncker has started nine of Wolves’ 11 Premier League games, only three of which have been defeats, and his commitment on the pitch has now been reflected off it with the signing of an extended contract.
