Jimenez: 'We have to dream big'

Raul Jimenez believes Wolves can ‘achieve anything’ if they continue to perform like they have in the first two games following the Premier League restart.

The Mexican linked up once again with Adama Traore to score Wolves’ only goal of the game against Bournemouth at Molineux on Wednesday evening, with an almost carbon copy of the move that opened the scoring against West Ham United at the weekend.

Now with just two days to go until the old gold are back in action in a West Midlands derby against Aston Villa, Jimenez is urging his side to 'dream big' and continue the form they have displayed following the three-month Covid-19 break.

On two wins from two

“It feels amazing. It’s a feeling of that we are working very hard the last couple of weeks before we start again.

“We made it great on the pitch and I think if we are like this, as a pack, then we can achieve anything.”

On being patient throughout the game

“Well, it was a difficult game, with all of their team in their own half of the pitch. It’s difficult to create opportunities when a team is like this, teams that are looking for just one long ball, and our mistakes.

“Sometimes it seems that we have to wait till the second-half to score, but the other team counts too. They came here to play their game, so we have to be almost perfect to win these kinds of games.

“But we were patient and we were doing the things that we know to do. We were together as a pack and, at the end, we got the goal that we needed to win the game.”

On his partnership with Traore

“It’s amazing. Sometimes it works very well with some of your teammates. All of us together want to keep going like this; it doesn’t matter who scores, who assists, we want to keep going like this.

“All of us are waiting for that opportunity, so I’m happy to be scoring, to be the goalscorer, and very happy for Adama.”

On copying their goal against West Ham

“It’s all about the training sessions. We work this kind of thing, with these kinds of crosses, and we know where we’re going to be.

“We talk before the games, before the training sessions, and I know he’s going to get the cross into the box, so I have to be there to score.”

On a trip to Villa Park on Saturday

“We now have two days to rest, but we know that after that game, we have a week to rest, to train and to get back again.

“We want nine points from nine this week, so we have to go there with all that we have to win that game, and that’s all that we have to think about.

“We have to dream big and keep going like this.”
