Enobakhare makes Wigan switch

Bright Enobakhare has signed a new Wolves contract and joined Championship side Wigan Athletic on a season-long loan.

The Wolves Academy product returned from an impressive stint at Coventry City last term to train with Nuno Espirito Santo’s first-team during pre-season.

Enobakhare has agreed a new one-year-deal, having made close to 50 appearances for Wolves, the majority of which came in the club’s Championship title winning season of 2017/18.

Now he’s joined the Latics for the upcoming campaign and will be managed by former Wolves midfielder Paul Cook at the DW Stadium, where he’ll look to continue his development.

On the new deal and move, Wolves sporting director Kevin Thelwell said: “We’re really pleased to tie Bright down to an extended deal and also pleased to give him the opportunity to go and play in the Championship.

“We’re hoping he’ll be able to build on the great work that he did at Coventry last year.

“We all recognise that he’s a player that’s got great potential and hopefully this gives him a platform to prove that he’s capable of making the next step into the Premier League, by doing well for Wigan.”

Back in the Championship, Enobakhare could make his Wigan debut on Saturday against Preston North End.
