The Next Match

Nuno Espírito Santo says Wolves are looking no further than today’s visit of Cardiff City after a perfect start to the Sky Bet Championship season.

It is a long time since Wolves won their first three league games of the season – four in all competitions – but Nuno was keeping feet firmly fixed on the ground ahead of the visit of a Cardiff side who are also four from four so far.

“We are focusing on our tasks and our goals – and our goal in the next match,” says the Head Coach.

"Each day and each game is important.

“But really it doesn’t mean anything – it’s about what we do here at Compton, the way we play and the way we manage situations.

"This team is prepared to compete against Cardiff – this is the only thing I can 100 per cent assure you.

"We’re growing and getting better each game.

“Each game it’s really hard to mention one player in particular to say he did better than the other one.

"The Championship is really tough and we expected that.

“We took a lot of time before the beginning of the competition to analyse every team, all the squads, how they play, style of play."

Cardiff have also kicked off with three successive wins, without conceding a goal, and Neil Warnock’s team will certainly provide tough opposition.

"This is a tough game - they have the same points that we’ve achieved,” added Nuno.

"I expect a tough game against a good team and an experienced manager. Neil Warnock is very experienced and Cardiff are playing well.

"We’ve analysed it and we’re ready to go. For both teams it’s a good challenge.

"We’re at home and the home factor for us is very important, Molineux must be a pack.

“We know how much it means to us after two good results to come back to Molineux.

"We’ve felt the passion of the fans. Since the Leicester game we’ve started to feel what it means to be Wolves."

The transfer window remains open until the end of the month, and Nuno is not ruling out further ins and outs.

"We’re very happy with the squad that we have,” he said.

“The player that eventually comes in must bring something new, something different, and always with quality.

"If it’s quality and it’s a good chance for us to get him, we’ll go for it.

“It’s also possible players will move on.

“We have to look at both sides of the market – coming in and going out and always in a respectful way.

"There are players that have been with us from day one that now are not having many chances and many minutes.

“Maybe they’re not options now but they could be in the future.

"It’s important to look at those players and see what is best for them.

"It’s a task of the club to take care of all these situations.”

One player who may be available for loan is Michal Zyro, now fit again over a year out with injury.

"It depends on the conditions,” Nuno said when asked if the Polish frontman will depart on loan.

"First of all from my point of view we have to look at and respect the player. And what he’s feeling also, and his will.

"If we found all the parts of happy and it’s good for him he’ll go and do it.

"Michal Zyro, everybody knows what he’s been through in the last 18 months.

"He’s coming from a very difficult injury and recovering well – and he needs to play. He knows that, we know that. We’re going to find the best way to do it."
