Wolves Studios | Cesar Peixoto: The Story So Far

The 15-minute production focuses on the Portuguese’s rise from player to head coach before taking his place in the Old Gold hotseat this summer ahead of leading Wolves out during their landmark 150^th anniversary season.

There’s insight into what Peixoto was like as a determined young midfielder after his outstanding performance against Porto for hometown club Vitoria Guimaraes led to him being signed by Jose Mourinho and winning the Champions League with the Portuguese giants.

As well as the highs of his playing career, the documentary also looks at how Peixoto has learned from past mistakes to become a successful head coach in Portuguese football.

That came to the fore last season, after Peixoto guided former club Gil Vicente – a side which has bounced between the top and second tier of football in Portugal – to an incredible sixth placed finish, behind the likes of Porto, Sporting CP, Benfica and Braga.

Filmed during the summer in Peixoto’s native Portugal, Cesar Peixoto: The Story So Far hears from the people who were there to see his development first hand, including Pedro Cunha, journalist and editor of Portuguese football database website Zero Zero, and Carlos Matos Rodrigues, journalist, reporter and commentator for Sport TV, Portugal’s main dedicated television network.

There is also an interview with Carlitos, the legendary former winger at Gil Vicente, who shares insight into the enormous achievement he was able to realise with the underdog team.

As he left his home country behind this summer and stepped into the head coach role at Molineux, the documentary shares some exclusive footage from Wolves’ Algarve training camp, as well as pre-season in the Black Country, to show how Peixoto is getting his message across to his players to ensure the Old Gold have an effective campaign in the Championship.
